Why Sell Outdoor Gear?
Some customers have asked, "Why sell outdoor gear when so many other shops in town sell it?" Well, our focus is on enabling folks to lead engaged lives - engaged with place (Pac NW), people and food. We want to get folks out hiking and camping ... for their own health and spirit and the cameradie of the experience, and to see their native plants and how and where they grow. Then perhaps, on their next visit to the store, then might buy those plants for their own yard. We've also found that most folks wear the same clothes to work in the yard as they do for a day hike or camping trip.

And items like knives and headlamps (and rain protection), while great for camping, are particularly useful when night time slug hunting or defending the coop from a raccoon attack or moving bee hives.

Affordable, Local, Sustainable
Some outdoor stores in town carry products with high price points or that are not made in a particularly sustainable manner. Our goal is to bring in quality equipment that is reasonable priced, and where and when possible to find local and/or more sustainably-minded sources. We feel there is a real need in outdoor retail for these offerings.

Thus, we feel that offering outdoor gear and clothing is a natural extension and a necessary part of fulfilling our greater mission.

Enjoy!
