Raising Backyard Chickens

Thinking about getting chickens? Not sure what the "adventure" will entail. Well, we are pleased to offer this enabling class on raising the backyard chicken flock. This class will cover how to get started, which breeds to select, what to expect (i.e., how to prepare), health, coop design, and how to deal with common challenges - poop, predators, pests, rodents, and end of laying/life concerns. Taught by LS staff.

Pot-Up PARTY

Earn $20 Gift Cert
We're are having a Pot-Up Party. We'll be potting up strawberries, perennials and shrubs. We are asking folks to participate for a 2-hour stint, of their choosing, and in return we'll give a $20 gift cert. Coffee and pastries at the start, and pizza around noon. It's a great way to have fun, learn a little and meet good folks.

Mason Bee
SORTING Party!

FREE Mason Bees!
We're having a mason bee "sorting party" and you're invited! We'll sort mason bee cocoons between males and females, based on size, under the careful supervision of local mason bee expert Stephen Anderson. Stephen will also give a de facto class. Should last about an hour and be a lot of fun. Plus, you'll get FREE box of mason bees to take home, let hatch and pollinate away.

You'll learn basic principles of design, storm water management, and which native plants would work best in your yard - and the birds and pollinators they attract.
